Prototyping
Created an end-to-end interactive prototype for Nykaa’s Personalized Beauty Box โ enabled user testing and iteration to streamline product discovery and reduce decision fatigue.
In the Nykaa case study, the main goal was to address user frustration in finding the right beauty products, especially for users with specific skin concerns. Based on the developed persona of Riya Sharma, I designed and prototyped a complete flow for the Personalized Beauty Box feature.
What I did:
– An onboarding quiz asking about skin type, skin tone, product preferences, and concerns.
– Dynamic transitions between steps to keep the experience lightweight.
– A personalized product selection screen based on quiz answers.
– Loading personalized results
– Option to replace recommended items
– Preview of selected products before checkout
– Whether they felt guided through the quiz
– If the personalization felt accurate and useful
– Whether they could complete the process without confusion
– Appreciated the minimal visual load and clarity at each step
– Wanted control over editing suggested products
– Expected more cues for skin sensitivity considerations
The prototype helped validate assumptions early, and the feedback loop guided me in improving navigation, microcopy, and the result screen hierarchy before finalizing the UI design.
